-Elektronik kontrol ünitesinin püskürtülecek yakıt miktarının hesaplanmasında, kullanılacak hava miktarına ve motor devir bilgilerine ihtiyacı vardır.
-Ölçme ve algılama ünitelerinden gelen bilgiler bilgisayar tarafından değerlendirilir ve püskürtülecek yakıt miktarının belirlenmesinde yararlanılır. Bilgisayar ve algılayıcılar, kontrol sistemini oluşturur. Emilen havanın miktarı motorun yük durumunun göstergesidir.
-Araçlarda marka ve modellere göre ECU, değişik bilgilere ihtiyaç duyar. Bunlar;

- Beyin yaniE.C.U. 'ne bağlı birden çok sensör vardır.Genelliklede bu sensörlerden biri arıza yapar.Bu arıza yapan sensör aracın gösterge paneline arıza işareti olarak çıkar.Bu arızanın teşhisi konulabilmesi için yetkili sevislerdeki diagnostik test cihazı yardımı ile anlaşılır.Duruma göre sensör değişimi veya beynin farklı bir bölgesinde onarım gerçekleştirilir.
